CUET UG (Common University Entrance Test – Undergraduate) is a national-level entrance exam conducted by NTA for admission to undergraduate programs across 280+ central, state, and private universities in India, including Delhi University, JNU, BHU, AMU, and Jamia Millia Islamia. It was introduced to create a single, standardised admission process replacing the previous system of individual college cut-offs, which disadvantaged students from different state boards.
CUET UG 2027 consists of 37 subjects across 3 sections: 13 languages (Section 1), 23 domain-specific subjects (Section 2), and 1 General Aptitude Test (Section 3). Each paper has 50 compulsory MCQ questions worth 250 marks. Exam duration is 60 minutes per paper. The mode is Computer-Based Test (CBT). Each correct answer is awarded +5 marks, while each incorrect answer carries a penalty of –1 mark.
Yes, unlike UGC NET, CUET UG does have negative marking. Each correct answer carries 5 marks, while an incorrect attempt incurs –1 mark. Unanswered questions carry no penalty. This means blind guessing is not advisable; only attempt questions you are reasonably confident about.
Over 280 universities including Delhi University, JNU, BHU, AMU, and Jamia Millia Islamia accept CUET UG scores for admissions. For the Commerce stream, top-choice destinations include Sri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), Lady Shri Ram College, Hindu College, Hansraj College (all DU), as well as BHU's Faculty of Commerce. Each university sets its own cut-off from the CUET score, so strong domain-subject performance in Accountancy, Business Studies, or Economics is critical.
Candidates can select a maximum of 5 papers overall, at least 1 language, typically 3–4 domain subjects, and the General Test if required by your target course. Commerce students should typically select: English or Hindi (Language), Accountancy, Business Studies, Economics (domain subjects), and the General Test if their target university requires it. PrepWords offers curated notes for all three Commerce domain subjects at ₹59 each.
There is no age limit and no minimum percentage in Class 12 required for appearing in CUET UG 2027. Candidates who have passed Class 12 or are appearing in 2027 are eligible to apply. However, the specific university and course you're targeting will have its own admission-level eligibility criteria (minimum marks, required subjects) that you must satisfy at the time of admission.
No, the CUET 2027 syllabus for domain subjects covers the entire NCERT Class 12 syllabus for respective subjects. This means if you are already studying Class 12 NCERT for your board exams, you are simultaneously preparing for CUET. The key difference is the format: CUET uses 50 compulsory MCQs in 60 minutes with negative marking, so exam strategy and speed matter more than in board exams.
No, the General Aptitude Test is not compulsory for every student. It is required only for courses and universities that specifically ask for GAT scores. Before deciding whether to take GAT, check the admission requirements of your shortlisted universities for your target course; this varies by institution and programme.
CUET UG 2027 is conducted in 13 languages, including English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Marathi, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Punjabi, Assamese, Odia, and Urdu. Rajasthan-based students who are more comfortable in Hindi can attempt the exam in Hindi without any disadvantage.
PrepWords offers subject-wise digital notes for CUET UG 2027 in Accountancy, Business Studies, and Economics, all three core Commerce domain subjects. Each set of notes is structured around the NCERT Class 12 syllabus, highlights MCQ-prone topics based on previous CUET question analysis, and is available for ₹59 with 1-year access and instant delivery. This lets you cover all three Commerce subjects under ₹180 total, far more affordable than coaching classes while staying fully syllabus-aligned.
